Boston Marathon 2013

Now I try not to be too serious here, but we all heal differently so thanks ahead of time for bearing with me as this hit close to home literally and figuratively.
The Boston Marathon has been around since 1897 and is a huge part of the city's history. Hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of dollars are raised each year by runners for numerous charities. Not to mention, with over 500,000 spectators, it's New England's most widely viewed sporting event...  And that says a lot considering how big Red Sox Nation is... or all other Boston sports for that matter.
It might sound cliché, but it's possibly the last event anyone would ever expect to see bombed. The last mile of the race was dedicated to the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting victims for crying out loud! You don't bomb charity events... I don't care how sick or hateful you are! To see it happen is atrocious.
I knew a lot of people near where the explosions were, and I can't even put into words the difficulty of not being able to get calls through to them. I had no clue if my brother or close friends were alright until hours later (thankfully everyone is doing well) .
It feels like heartbreak.  It feels like chaotic panic.  It feels scary and unsafe.  It feels like when you feel so strongly about something you no longer know what to think, say, feel or do. It feels like disbelief, hatred and anger. It feels like it took ME two days to put it into words, and if you know me you understand the significance of that. It feels like right before you're about to cry, and that feeling doesn't go away. Then, of course are the obvious questions of "why?". Why us? Why the Boston Marathon, of all events? Why innocent people?
My soul aches for everyone affected by this disgusting act of terrorism.  My thoughts are with you, always. Stay strong for everyone around you... for the people who lost loved ones... for the forever changed lives of people there.  Be strong for mothers who lost children, for people who are still in the hospital, and for people who have still not been able to find their loved ones.

We're a strong city, regardless of our reputation of coldness and assholeishness. If you don't believe that 100%, watch video of people running towards where the explosions were.  Watch the heroes among civilians and authorities alike caring for, consoling, and helping injured people.
We will get through this, and we'll be even stronger for it. If you ask me, next year the Marathon will be even bigger and better than in the past. If there's one thing we don't stand for as a city, it's being fucked with. So whoever did this is in for a big Bostonian foot up their ass.

  1. Amen. They will catch whoever did it and I personally will hoard relief at the fact that very large prisoners (and maybe small) will quickly make them their personal bitch both sexually and mentally. I hope every shreek of pain whoever did this yells as he/she is being ass raped, alone, in a shower reminds him of that little boy who's life he took without reason or purpose.
