Believe it or not, there was life before texting. It was a world where people actually spoke on the phone or in person to each other. They actually spent time with, and listened to, their friends instead of texting everyone else. To think - even flirting was done in person!... and some people thinks it takes balls just to text " i <3 u".
Back in these days... yes I feel old now, thanks... the internet (see stuck in the 90s post) was just becoming popular and we had "instant messaging". For those of you too young to know what that is, think of it like texting, but on the computer. For the most part nothing amazingly sexy happened here, with the exception of chat rooms. Again if you're too young to know what it is, think of group texting with strangers who say they're 16yr old females but are really 60yr old men... if you weren't immediately creeped out by an influx of a/s/l (age/sex/location) messages, you eventually realized that it was a bunch of cybersex...not sexy.
Then the texting started...and spread like herpes at a bad frat party at 3am. At first, even if there were dirty discussions, pictures usually weren't sent because the camera on early phones was not only crap quality but also made an earth-shattering CHIKAH noise. The idea behind this noise was to prevent pictures from being taken in bathrooms... which clearly hindered drunk (or sober) teenage girls with duck faces. The disgustingly slutty bathroom pictures was a fad that took a few more years to grow...and for some frickin' reason is still around.
With duck faces came another atrocious fad - sexting. Nothing says 'Proud Parents' like a horny teenage population texting things like "I wanna do ur face l8r". It seems like more of an epidemic than STDS... which is hilarious... lower rate of STDs because people don't actually have sex anymore they just text about it. Good for you teenagers!
But wait, there's more! With recent developments - things like snapchat - pictures are taken and deleted within seconds. Naked, ugly, diseased... whatever the picture you can still send it to people because they'll never see it again after a few seconds! Sure you can do plenty of other cool things with technology like this, but what's more fun than teenagers obsessed with sex?
