How To: Wedding Under $1,000

With spring just around the corner, it's that time again...  and for those engaged or for the guys who are worried it's going to break the bank, have no fear! It can be done for under $1,000! Impossible, you say? We thought so, too until we did a little research.  After all it's 2013, and after something like 6 years of a recession in the US someone had to figure it out! A money shortage can't stop love!

Anyway... our research started with the dress.  As any woman knows, the wedding dress is a HUGE part of the wedding. If you have any doubt in that, just watch "Say Yes to the Dress".   Another fact that women know is that the dress can be super pricey... thousands, even. Luckily for you, it doesn't have to be!

This well-known website/store has an entire sale section dedicated to dresses starting around $160 and up to $750.  With 950 pages in between, you're sure to find a perfect match at a fraction of the cost here.  They have every size and style you can think of!

This site is pretty amazing, too. The dresses start at $100, not to mention they have delightfully cute and cheap bridesmaid dresses for $50. But wait, there's more!  They have accessories: belts, sashes, tiaras, clutches, brooches.... even stuff for guys too!

Hair is another expense that could potentially done away with if you do it yourself, or have a friend do it if you're like me and not too good at it.

Hair Romance is a crazy awesome website when it comes to hair.  She wrote a book (tutorials included) with 30 hairstyles and another with 30 braided hairstyles.  Can't go wrong there!

Another website with more DIY hairstyles geared more towards weddings is Wedding Channel. It's a great place to get ideas for having a great wedding on a budget, too.

While we're on this DIY idea, do your own make up to save!

Professional photographers can charge a few thousand dollars just for one night... we wish we got paid like that!... so save a big chunk here by opting for a photobooth rental.

Another option, thank god for technology, is the almighty Instagram! Let your guests know to take tons of photos and use the same hashtag.  Talk about wicked easy!

Ah, the wedding venue! You might be dreaming of a Cinderella fairy tale wedding in a huge castle and yadda yadda. If you can afford it... GO FOR IT!

For everyone else, it's time for that creative streak of yours! Think of how pretty public parks and gardens are... especially if there are ponds, bridges, waterfalls, flowers, etc.

If you worry about weather,  stay indoors - ask relatives and friends about space options. Even a white tent in a pretty back yard can be gorgeous with the right finishing touches.

OTHER QUICK TIPS:
  •  Don't get married on a Saturday! Since it's the most popular day, many venues will charge up to 50% off if you pick any other day.
  • Consider a morning wedding. Serving your guests brunch is WAY cheaper.
  • Negotiate!
  • Off-season is key. Fall weddings will be easier on the wallet.
